This is a prime example why marketing companies rely on color to portray their image to consumers. Why malls use vibrant banners to attract shoppers to monster sales. Why every direct mailer you receive in the mail is in color. That is what is amazing about color copies.
The other week, our team was at a conference when a guy handed me a piece of paper that was a Xerox of flyer. We immediately disregarded the paper as the black and white image was choppy and unreadable. We simply ignored it and kept walking. Minutes later another person handed us another piece of paper with the same image and text, but this paper was in color. Without noticing, we studied the paper for its content. Then a member of our group pulled out the black and white copy and said, “Hey, this is the same marketing flyer”. We all looked at each other was amazed that we disregarded it the first time. It is amazing to see the difference with these two copies. Out attention span was certainly affected by two copies of the same flyer because of the ability to use color on one versus the other.
